The Zweetkamertje
The quiet moments in the sweat room — final notes, nervous smiles and words of encouragement from your paranymphs before the doors open.

The Dutch Defence Experience
Capturing Every Tradition of Your Promotion
A Dutch PhD promotion is unlike any other ceremony. With 200+ defences behind the lens, I know every ritual — and exactly where to stand for each one.
The Pedel & The Cortège
The grand entrance: the pedel's staff, the procession of gowned professors and the moment the committee takes its place in the Aula.
The Defence & Laudatio
Your presentation, the committee's questions, the famous "Hora est" and your promotor's heartfelt laudatio as you become Doctor.
The Reception & Party
Champagne, hugs and toasts — celebrating with family, friends and colleagues long after the diploma is signed.
